1. Stay safe
2. Respect yourself
3. Use coping skills--not substances to escape the pain
4. Make the present and future better than the past
5. Learn to trust (only when you know they are "safe" people who will not use information against you, lie, steal or hurt you)
6. Take good care of your body
7. Get help from safe people
8. To heal fully from PTSD, become substance-free
9. If one method (example; coping skills) doesn't work try something else.
10. Never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never give up!
